I have outlined why the big holidays matter to me, and the truth is that Easter doesn’t in the same way. Halloween is a lovely community holiday, and Thanksgiving and Christmas are family ones, but Easter is kind of just a nice day. And, well, that’s not a complaint. Sometimes, you need a nice day.
I’m not a religious person, so the main meaning of it isn’t huge for me. But it’s a candy day and kind of a silly one. There’s fun stuff to do. I’m going to take the kids to a big easter egg hunt at a trampoline park. That will be fun for them.
Meaning is not particularly easy to come by, honestly. I write these holiday posts because I often find meaning in holidays. Easter is kind of just… an elevated regular day for me, though. It’s nice; it has conventions, such as the bunny and the candy. Jesus apparently set a world record (#NeverForget) and I don’t want to pretend it means nothing. I like Easter. I don’t love it. It’s good, but not great. It’s fine.
But I will take any occasion to wish everyone the best. Whatever this day means to you all, I hope it is a lovely day.
i feel the same way and also it’s the day every year when I watch Life of Brian.
Best to you as well!
